There are many people who know something about ruminant animal agriculture and the essential role it plays in meeting the needs of today’s world and the world of 2050. Their expertise may be in some aspect of soil, plant, animal or human health. Or it may be in topics related to environmental stewardship, public policy, or sustainable development. The Ruminati is my attempt to assemble them and introduce them to each other. The goal of this sodcast (see what I did there?) is to make their information more widely known. Welcome to the herd!

Less than half the man he used to be!
Yogi Parker has already covered a lot of miles in his life and now he’s on a whole new journey. He’s played high-contact sports like football and rugby. His work history can be described as varied, or perhaps even eclectic. Bouncer, scientific diver, surf instructor, emergency medical technician, pro wrestler, and most recently as an over the road truck driver. A decent cook, he had to adapt his camp cooking schools to the life of a trucker. He learned about keto through a trucking radio show called “Destination Health.” Skeptical at first, he became convinced by the results on a wide range of conditions. Oh yeah, and the weight loss! Today he’s off the road, working with Carrie Brown, studying to become an Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and keto coach.

Strong mentally, physically and spiritually.
Danny has been a collegiate athlete and coach. He has a graduate degree in Human Performance, and he still competes in sports like crossfit, powerlifting, half marathons, and, recently, rowing.
Danny discovered the ketogenic lifestyle in 2016, and immediately experienced relief the injuries from years of playing on artificial turf and beating himself up with heavy lifting. He also regained control over hunger, while also finding a mental clarity and increase in productivity. He, his wife Maura and their boys have been following this lifestyle since 2017. Today they publish a blog, podcast and YouTube channel called Fat Fueled Family. They are dedicated to leading a movement that will empower families to eat better, move more, and grow closer. They strive to help others transition their entire family to a low carb lifestyle so that they, too, can experience all of the profound benefits the Vega family enjoys.

Vinnie Tortorich, Celebrity Fitness Trainer, speaker, podcaster, best-selling author of “Fitness Confidential: Adventures in the Weight-Loss Game,” and documentary producer with “Fat: A Documentary” released in 2019.
Some call Vinnie “America’s ANGRIEST Trainer”. Why is he so angry? “Because your good intentions have been stolen! You have been duped! Yes, despite all your good honest efforts you just keep gaining weight and feeling worse.” If this sounds familiar, I hope you’ll learn something useful from this episode. And he’s not REALLY that angry…

Episode 1 of the Ruminati's podcast! Adele Hite, PhD, MPH, RDN
I met Adele ten years ago and I've benefited from her insight and knowledge ever since. I couldn't think of a better person to start my podcast!
"Adele Hite, PhD MPH RD is a registered dietitian with a masters’ degree in public health nutrition and a PhD in rhetoric, communication, and digital media. She also has extensive graduate training in nutritional epidemiology.
"Dr. Hite’s doctoral work in rhetoric, communication, and digital media centered on the historical, political, and sociocultural contexts surrounding the creation and evolution of the U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans. As many people are now learning, the first 1980 Dietary Guidelines were not based on a substantial body of scientific evidence. Hite’s dissertation explores the forces that helped to shape how and why the Dietary Guidelines define what a “healthy diet” is."
